Treat burns with Lavender

 Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is one of my favorite oils because it has so many uses and a long list of therapeutic properties. Lavender also has many energetic qualities that are harmonizing to the nervous system thus providing a calming and balancing effect on the emotions. All these properties give Lavender a special place in the aromatherapy world.  Lavender is made up of mostly 2 components responsible for its skin healing and calming constituents called Linalool and Linalyl acetate.  Lavender's skin healing abilities were first discovered by Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, a french chemist, when he burned his hand in a laboratory accident and dunked his hand in the nearest place, a jar of lavender essential oil. He later realized how quickly his hand had healed from the burn and the minimal scarring he had left. 

Apply 1 drop (neat) of lavender as soon as the burn occurs.

Reaaply every 10 minutes for 30 minutes or until pain has subsided but for no more than 1 hour.

To minimize scarring, massage Foraha carrier oil on the affected skin 2x daily.

PS - Do not use neat or undiluted lavender on an open wound or broken skin.  If you have an open wound or broken skin, lavender must be diluted with a carrier oil before applying to skin or try our Boo Boo roll on.
